There are many cash back sites out there to choose from and if you’re here today you must have some questions about Ebates. Today I’m giving you my honest Ebates review that will hopefully cover all the questions you may have about Ebates such as how it works , how much you can save and whether or not it is a legit cash back site!

What is Ebates ?
Ebates is a cash back and shopping rewards company that gives you cash back for shopping at your favorite stores.
Ebates receives their revenue from affiliate network links. When you make a purchase by clicking through their site links they receive and affiliate commission from the retailer and they in turn split that commission with you.
You can click on the retailer links through their site directly or you can add the Ebates browser extension which is available for Chrome, Edge and Safari. (Find this at the bottom of the Ebates site under TOOLS and SERVICES).
By using Ebates, you are getting ADDITIONAL cash back after you have already shopped and used your store coupons. I’ve earned $250 by doing nothing more then checking out with Ebates before I make my normal online purchases.
Is Ebates Free To Join? Is Ebates Legit?
Yes, there is absolutely no cost. There is no catch at all. This is completely legit and is not a scam. It does sound too good to be true, but you are not required to do anything at all in order to become a member. All you need to is supply them with your email address. You can also login in with Google or Facebook!
How does Ebates work?
Here’s how it works:
- Sign up for an Ebates account.
- Go to the Ebates site and search for the retailer you want to shop with.
Ebates has over 2500 online retail stores to choose from. Here is a super short list of some retailers you know….
- Kohl’s
- Express
- Macy’s
- Bloomingdales
- Best Buy
- Shutterfly
- Barnes and Noble

There just are too many retailers to name!
- Search for the products you want to buy and add to your cart. Make a purchase like you normally would at the retail store! That’s it. Done.
Ebates will mail you a check every quarter. It’s so exciting to get a check in the mail! Sometimes we forget it’s coming so it’s a nice surprise.
I just placed an order on Kohl’s website for a gift. I used my 30% off Kohl’s coupon at checkout and I also went through Ebates to receive an additional 6% cash back!! If you don’t have coupons for the retailer you are shopping at they will also offer suggested coupons for you to use. It’s very helpful so that you don’t have to scour the internet for coupons on a bunch of sites that make you sign up to get the coupon. That is always so frustrating!
Download the Cash Back Browser Button
A quick tip to make this even more simple and I highly recommend doing this:
Download the cash back button to your browser. That way when your shopping online all you have to do is go to your browser while you are on the store’s website and click the Ebates button. It automatically links you up to Ebates. You’re all set to shop!
Just make sure the icon is always highlighted. If you are on a website and walk away it can deactivate. You may need to refresh it. You can find the cash back button install instructions at the bottom of the Ebates site under Tools and Services.
I find this so much easier to do because then I don’t have to go to the Ebates site and search for the retailer. I just go to the store site and then click the little Ebates Icon on my browser. So simple!
Ebates Offers Coupons
This is another pro to becoming an Ebates member. Ebates will supply you with store coupons. There were countless times where I didn’t have a coupon for the retailer I was shopping at. When you click on the Ebates icon in your browser a drop down window will appear. It will highlight the cash back percentage along with the current store coupons and allow you add the coupon code when you’re at checkout.
Remember, this coupon is in ADDITION to the cash back that they offer. Ebates is all about finding you the best deals.
Ebates Double Cash Back
Ebates offers double cash back randomly throughout the year. Usually black Friday, Cyber Monday and now it’s running during Easter so I wanted to make sure I brought this to your attention because this can bring you big savings.
Double cash back means that right now Macy’s is offering 6% cash back. So…. I will get 12% cash back off of whatever I order from Macy’s as long as Ebates is offering double cash back.
This is on top of what you are already saving at the store!! So you can use your Macy’s reward dollars, Macy’s coupon and then get an additional 12% cash back through Ebates.
It’s fantastic right? Imagine how this will add up if you do this every time you make an online purchase.
Ebates Review: Does it work with Amazon
Ebates is partnered with Amazon. The only downfall is that it does not include all Amazon purchases. It’s constantly changing , but here is what Ebates is offering through Amazon today:
- Clothing- 3.5% On certain brands and Amazon essentials clothing
- Amazon Devices- 4%
- Patio and Outdoor -4%
- Furniture and Rugs-4%
It’s better than nothing, but sadly you can’t get discounts on everything. Anytime I place an order on Amazon I check out with Ebates because the deals are constantly changing on what they are offering discounts on.
Ebates In Store Cash Back
If you are not an online shopper Ebates still has you covered.
All you need to do is go to the site where is says IN STORE CASH BACK at the top. Link the available retailer deal to your credit card.
Done.
I’ve used this feature many times while in store. If I’m out shopping and decide to make an impulse purchase I check Ebates for in store cash back. I link immediately to my card and then pay for the product as usual with my credit card.
I love saving additional money like that last minute! It’s a really nice feature.

How does Ebates pay ?
Ebates pays by Paypal or check. I personally chose check. I get a notification that says a “Big Fat Check ” is on it’s way. I love this because it’s something I forget about and it’s always a nice surprise to get a check in the mail!

Ebates Credit Card
Another avenue Ebates offers to save money is a Cash Back Visa Credit Card. There is no annual fee and you will receive 3% additional cash back when you use it at their approved retailers. (Find this at the bottom of the Ebates site under TOOLS and SERVICES).
Example: If Ebates is offering 10% cash back at Macy’s you can check out with Ebates and then pay with your Ebates credit card for an additional 3% savings. You would get 13% off your total order.
Ebates Review : Referrals
They offer you a referral fee if your friend signs up using your link and spend $25 with the approved retailers. They get $10 and you get $25! It’s a win for everyone.
