Muffins are one of my favorite breakfast and snack ideas! I started making these healthy muffin recipes a few years ago when I was looking for a nutritious snack to eat every day that would actually fill me up. I was pleasantly surprised because they taste amazing even without the added sugar! Today I’m going to share with you 10 Healthy Muffin Recipes that you’re sure to love.
My favorites are the muffin recipes that don’t use flour. I try to avoid white breads and refined flours whenever I can so it was refreshing to find so many recipes that omitted the flour.
I made sure that the recipes that did use flour used whole grain. The texture of the muffins that don’t use flour is going to be completely different of course, but I find them to be just as delicious and satisfying when I need a healthy snack.
Muffins are perfect for:
- Breakfast
- Pre or post workout snack
- Mid morning or late afternoon snack
- On the go snack
- Late night “dessert” to curb your sweet tooth craving
The best is after I’ve had these I feel like I had a sweet treat, but in fact I just had something super healthy.
These are also fantastic snacks to give your kids. My kids are so excited when they see I’m making muffins. They have no idea that there is no added sugar and that I actually consider them to be healthy! I give these to my 2 year old for breakfast and it’s not only good for her, but it’s a perfect quick breakfast for a busy morning!
Quick Tips For Healthy Muffins:
For the recipes that require bananas, make sure they are ripe! If they are not ripe your muffin may not be sweet enough if the banana is the only sweet ingredient. You can put bananas in a paper bag and that will ripen them in a day or two. However, if you want to make them immediately did you know you can bake and microwave your bananas to ripen them? Check it out here.
